Rey Curré

Rey Curré Gallery

Museo Comunitario Yimba Cajc

The museum was opened on April 24th 2015

This community museum is located in Rey Curré near Buenos Aires in the Puntarenas province. It is managed by a community Committee in consultation with the Indigenous Development Association. The themes of the museum involve the origin of the town, it’s archaeology, founding families, medicine and medicinal plants, traditional handicrafts, political achievements and the origin of the names Curré and Yimba (a butterfly). The museum collaborates with the Yimba Cajc Rural School, so that historical memory and ancestral culture in young community members can be strengthened. The museum also organises the Yimba Cajc Cultural Festivals, offers guided tours and develops support projects to strengthen the community museum.
